In terms of new capacity, Cariflex, one of the world's largest suppliers of polyisoprene latex, announced in 2022 that it would invest US $0.35 billion to build the world's largest polyisoprene latex plant in Jurong Island, Singapore. The plant will be put into operation in 2024, and the Califlex polyisoprene latex production capacity will increase by 50% to 300000 tons.
From the demand side of polyisoprene latex, polyisoprene latex properties similar to natural latex, does not contain any protein, suitable for the production of products in contact with the human skin, such as surgical gloves, condoms, etc., and polyisoprene latex can be a good solution to natural rubber products caused by human allergy. At this stage, the annual consumption of natural rubber latex in the world exceeds 2 million tons. As a substitute for natural rubber latex, polyisoprene latex has a large space to replace natural rubber latex.
